There are many different beliefs about how a person becomes a ‘Christian’.

At LifeHOUSE we believe God’s written word, the Bible, explains how to become a follower of Christ and that the essence of becoming a Christian has nothing to do with being christened, owning a bible, going to church, being a good person or even just believing there is a God.

Instead, consider the following scriptures:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9

In simple terms- No matter how good we think we are, we’ve all done things that are wrong. These wrong things separate us from a perfect God and there’s nothing we can do to bridge that gap. However, God loves you so much that he sent his son to die for you to make up for all the wrong you’ve done. You can choose to live a life that relies on him and it starts by acknowledging what he’s done for you and your need for his forgiveness.

Remembering that it’s the attitude of your heart and not your words that matter, if you want to be a Christian we encourage you to earnestly pray a simple prayer perhaps similar to the one below:

“God, I recognise I have done many things wrong and that I deserve the consequences. However, I believe Jesus died and rose again so that I could be forgiven and be right with you. I want you to be my guide in life and I trust you have saved me and forgiven me.”

If you just prayed that and meant it: Congratulations!!! You have taken the first step on the incredible journey of having a relationship with your creator.
